The other day Ana Rodrigues (@ohhelloana@mastodon.social) wrote on mastodon that you should always write blog posts about the things that you successfully found on the interwebs.

If you finally found the solution to your coding problem in a deep comment or something after having dozens of tabs open, you should write about it in your own blog.

Really. Describe the problem in your own words and the solution for it, even if the solution seems really obvious now. Doesn’t matter. Give credit and whatever, but use your own words because you will be surprised at how many people will land on it.

Write the blog post you wish you had found.

Farming Simulator, playing the slow life 🚜 #

I’m a fan of slow games like Farming Simulator. I played FS17 for a while and then forgot about it in the past years. The other day I stumbled upon FS22 and I’m a happy little farmer again 👨‍🌾

Where is that mod folder? 📁 #

You can download mods directly in the game menu, but certain mods decided to not use this option. Unfortunately, the one I was looking at didn’t offer a helpfull readme, to let me know where to install the files. A few minutes of searching my hard drive I found it:

%userprofile%\Documents\My Games\FarmingSimulator2022\mods

I didn’t even have to extract the zip file, just conveniently drag and drop it into the folder.

Show the proper controller icons 🎮 #

Steam has integrated support for XBOX and Playstation controllers, which works very well for me so far. I’m using a PS4 controller connected by USB cable (I never got Bluetooth to work, but I don’t mind the cable). Looking at the controller settings in the games menu showed the proper icons, but when I actually played, it showed the XBOX icons in the help window. Bahamut (from the steam community) figured out, that FS22 actually uses it’s own controller logic and that it’s worth a try to disable the Playstation controller support in Steam. Thanks Bahamut, this worked immediately!
